STARLANDS Do The Double Over Worcester 2-1 Despite A Boy In Goal.

<p>Starlands travelled to Worcester to play the return leg of our league fixture.

<p>Thank you to Worcester for managing to get the game on !....Sorry Tim for having to put the nets up and then move pitches !....We do appreciate your efforts.

<p>Worcester sitting Second in the table are always a good strong physical team - and we were missing a few key players who may be up for the challenge.

<p>However, what was to happen was a very very pleasant surprise.

<p>Starlands weathered the storm and actually took the lead.

<p>A quick throw in from Chloe found Anna on the edge of the box , she turned and shot - BULLET top corner ! 1-0

<p>The second followed Kiera bearing down on goal and having a double effort saved by the keeper. The ball was not cleared and Tia found Skye on the edge of the box who produced a lob come shot over the keeper to make it 2-0 !!! Terrific stuff !...and needless to say The Worcester management were not looking as happy.

<p>A bizarre free kick was given when Amber went down into a sliding tackle...."Hand Ball" was screamed by their lino and a free kick duly given. Bizarre because when Amber rose from the pitch she had a clear muddy ball mark smack on her face! lol.

<p>Anyway, after a hold up in play - and Starlands clearly losing their concentration Worcester took the free kick inot the goal mouth. There was a failure ot clear the ball and it went in to the bottom corner to make it 2-1 at the break.

<p>The Worcester girls were very pleased to be only 1 down and were coming off the pitch the happier. Strange...because I would have taken your hand off at the start for that first half. A really good team performance.

<p>The girls were really up against it in the second half -and nothing decision wise was really going for them.

<p>Things even up, and when Honest Mike Storey waved his flag for an off side Worcester ended up scoring. Fair play to the referee he came over and when everything was explained about coming back from an off side position blah blah blah interefering with play etc....He disallowed the goal !.....Not sure Worcester will be sending him a Christmas card....but he was a relative - So fair play for his honesty ! Thank you.

<p>As the game was nearing an end Worcester were pressing for an equaliser....STacey seemed to have cleared the danger but managed to shove the Worcester player in the back....PENALTY !!! Noooooooooooooooooooooo!........

<p>I couldnt believe it, after all that effort to throw it away in the dying seconds????>.....But NO !....Holly produced a superb save diving to the top corner and tipping over to win the game ! Brilliant stuff !.....

<p>A really great win - and certainly made my day....

<p>All the girls stopped off for a McDonalds on the way back....a BETS a BET.
