Home cup match

Yet another Jeckyll & Hyde performance from The Town who are struggling to string two good performances together so far this campaign. The opportunity to earn the club some revenue in the Vase was never close to being capitalised on with a drab display from start to finish.

Lichfield never really had to get out of 2nd gear to progress into the next round and were worthy of the comfortable 0-4 scoreline. Manager Dom Heath conceded he was alarmed but also surprised at the number of goals the side have conceded so far not just in the league but also pre season. "I thought as we started compiling this group of lads that we may not score loads but equally that we'd be quite tight defensively. That absolutely isn't the case and Steve and I need to fathom how to stem the flow and quickly".

Lichfield moved the ball well and seemed well rehearsed in their patterns of play. Josh Mansell on the right flank was a constant threat and heavily involved in most of the visitors attacking play. Two goals in each half where the deliveries weren't pressured anywhere near enough and slack marking in and around the Stafford penalty area made for a very one sided and disappointing exit from this years Vase competition.
