Home league match

This Sunday saw St Michaels entertain their Nemesis Baldon Sports in a title decider with only a win being good enough for St Michaels to take their first premiership title. Having played Baldon 8 times in the last 3 years St Michaels had yet to taste success but were buoyed by a close encounter in the cup the previous week.

St Michaels started the game in a high tempo and gained the upper hand after only 5 minutes when a Dan Tarrant shot was parried by the keeper and Jack Jolly converted to open the scoring. 7 minutes later Jack repaid the complement passing to Dan Tarrant who made it 2 - 0 to St Michaels. Baldon were looking devastated and St Michaels could have had even more goals with John Woodcock hitting the woodwork twice in the same move and having a perfectly good goal ruled out by the Linesman. St Michaels added to their tally in the 40th minute when a John Woodcock pass was put away by Dan Tarrant to make it 3 - 0 at half time.

The second half started as the first and 8 minutes in saw an Adam Fahy shot deflected over the keeper to make it 4 - 0. On 65 minutes a Jack Jolly pass saw John Woodcock scoring to make up for his bad luck in the first half. St Michaels then went off the boil for a bit and Baldon cut the deficit making it 5 - 1. With 11 minutes to go Linley Vincent received an injury and was replaced by Stacie Butcher. Baldon scored another consolation with 7 minutes to go but the final goal still went to St Michaels when a good run and pass by Dave Reeves was converted by Stacie Butcher. The final result was a resounding 6 - 2 victory for St Michaels F C.

This victory meant that St Michaels had won the Steve Adamson Premier title for the first time and had finally broke their Baldon's jinx.

Whilst everybody played their part in this victory special mentions must go to Jordan Wainwright and Dan Smith for superbly keeping grips on the Baldon forwards and Jack Jolly and Dan Tarrant for being a constant thorn in the Baldon defence. The man of the Match for the 6th time this season however goes to Dave Reeves who never gave Baldon's best player a kick throughout the game.

We are leaving the LKSFL this season to join a new league but what a way to go. PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS. Well done St Michaels with a complete Team effort all season.
