Match Report - PAULISTA - 15 Sep 2019

A 4-2 loss but the boys can hold their heads high after a very good performance against a strong Paulista side.

We started the game a bit slow with some misplaced passes but continued to hold our shape well making it difficult for Paulista to create too many clear cut chances, Paulista’s first goal involved a slice of luck with the shot rebounding off of the post onto George and in.

SMC grew into the game and scored a well worked equaliser with a through ball from Oli T going to Henry who showed great strength to hold off the defender and then slot the ball into the net to make it 1-1.

Unfortunately Paulista hit back almost immediately to go 2-1 in front but again the boys weren’t phased by this and continued to defend as a team from front to back waiting for the chance to break, it wasn’t long before this moment arrived with a very well worked goal starting with Luca breaking up the play in defence getting the ball to James who passed it onto Max who threaded a wonderful through ball for Henry to slot home again.

The boys began to tire towards the latter stages of the game as they had all worked so hard to keep such a good side at bay but Paulista’s quality shone through despite multiple saves from George AKA The Pink Panther they scored 2 goals late on giving them the 4-2 victory.

Again the all the boys played very well today and can hold their head high, every single player put in a shift and if we keep that attitude going into our first season in the B League I think we can expect big things
