This week saw SMC come up against Our Lady Youth in a friendly game in another warm up before the league campaign begins week after next.
With the opposition being a D league side a big win was anticipated from the fans and the boys didn’t disappoint with an emphatic 7-0 victory and all in the view of our club sponsor who was very impressed with what he had seen, it was clear very early on that the boys were a level above opposition and they used to opportunity to showcase what they have been working on in training with some slick passing play on show throughout the game.
Although this will be one of the easier games the boys will play this season a clean sheet is a massive positive and credit must go to George, Luca, Freddie, Ronnie & John who remained focused in their defensive duties as well creating attacking opportunities by playing out from the back and drawing the other team forward and creating space for the forwards to do what they do best.
Max opened the scoring and went on to score 4 for the day as well as assisting both of Henry’s goals, capping a very strong performance from the versatile forward.
There were many well worked goals during the game not forgetting James with a long distance effort that evaded the Lady Youth keeper.
Again in a game that we were expected to win comfortably EVERY BOY remained focused and played very attractive football, on another day it would have a double figure result which shows just how far we have come as a side in such a short time (Being in the D league ourselves just last season)

With an attendance of 38 the crowds seems to be increasing week by week and we may have to start selling tickets if this continues.
The boys are in Cup action next week and we are raring to go,
