Home league match
A welcome return to league action for SMC this week coming up against Foots cray lions black who we played the week prior in the Selkent cup resulting in a dire 0 - 0 draw in possibly one of the worst performances we’ve seen from the boys since they came together.
This week was complete change with the boys running out convincing winners in a game that we dominated from start to finish.
On a surprisingly sunny Sunday afternoon the pitch was in immaculate condition considering the weather had been compared to Armageddon the day previous & the boys took full advantage of this with a return to the pass and move ethos that is worked on in training every week.
The 1st half saw lots of possession for SMC but they were unable to find the killer ball to open up the opposition defence, the standout moment of the half being a finger tip save from our own George Martin ( Pink Panther ). Nobody thought he would be able to claw the effort away from goal but somehow he managed to stop what looked a certain goal, a solid first half performance but no goals to show for it 0 - 0 at half time.
The 2nd half continued with SMC dominating the play with Max Dunlop pulling the strings in midfield from start to finish. The first goal came from our very own goal machine Henry Mitchell who finished well after a sumptuous pass from James Bing who again worked his socks off for the team in the holding role, 1 - 0.
The 2nd of the game was started with some quick thinking from our defensive Rock Luca Smith who took a quick throw in putting Oli Tor through on goal, Oli still had work to do with the angle being so tight for him to get it past the keeper but he remained calm and slotted home, 2 - 0.
The 3rd and final goal was a very classy goal with lots of passing leading up to the finish, Olion found the perfect final pass to find Kai In the right position to tuck into an empty net, a deserved goal for Kai who showed some impressive passing moments during the game, 3-0.
Overall it was pretty much a perfect performance from the boys with the keeper & defence being solid from start to finish and gaining a well earned clean sheet and midfielders and forwards working hard and creating some beautiful passing moves and Getting 3 goals along with it.
The manager named all of the boys the “player of the match” and I don’t think anyone would disagree, fantastic game from all & we move onto next week.
Up the Cray!!!!
