A clinical Ed Morrison took his tally of goals to 7 from three games as St George's 2nd XI won their friendly clash against Claire's Court to give them back to back victories for the first time.
Following his four goals last time out, Morrison scored another hat-trick to help St George's avoid another defeat as they conceded two goals in another tense match for the defensive unit.
The back five of the 2nd XI, although settled, has constantly conceded goals early on that have taken confidence out of the team.
Despite going 1-0 down quite early on though, the team rallied well and could have had several by the end of the first half with Morrison and Mason going close twice each.
The opposition weren't without their own chances, however, and Alex Knutsen, in for the unavailable Rory Smith, Andrei Belonogoff and James Burdett were tested multiple times but coped well.
The central midfielders; Leon Allos, Jamie Orr, Marco Rolandelli and Rory Parkinson were all rotated regularly and all caused problems for Claire's Court when they completed passes through to the two strikers.
The performance improved even more in the second half as St George's changed tactics and found Morrison more regularly as he created space for himself just outside the area.
No sooner had he scored the equaliser when vice captain Cormac Brown was judged to have brought a player down inside the box.
In the resulting penalty, keeper George Lanigan guessed the right way and got his finger tips to the ball, tipping it onto the post only for it to spill back across the goal and into the net.
No matter though as St George's fought hard to equalise a second time and the hard work paid off when Belonogoff got his head to the ball from a set piece and found the back of the net for the first time this season.
The game was on and St George's gave it everything to get the win.
Sure enough George's found a way through as Morrison scored yet another goal to give them the lead with ten minutes remaining.
A tense few minutes followed before Morrison sealed the win and his second consecutive hat trick with the final touch of the match.
St George's 2nd XI will be very pleased with the performance and should look forward to a tough match next time out at home to RGS Guildford.
