Away tournament match
In a commanding display of football, Soccer For All (SFA) secured a 2-0 victory against Dominican University in a tournament away match held at the Dominican University, Samonda, on 8 March 2025. The match kicked off at 3:30pm, and SFA's performance was marked by a strong attacking presence and solid defensive organisation.
SFA lined up in a 4-1-2-3 formation, designed to maximise both defensive stability and attacking flair. Gbolahan Ajiboye took his place in goal, shielded by a back four consisting of Obinna Kingsley on the right, Daniel Adesina on the left, and the central defensive partnership of Chukwuemeka Ekemezie and Kester Tomiwa. Afolabi Akangbe operated as the lone defensive midfielder, tasked with breaking up play and providing support to the back line. Ahead of him, the midfield was bolstered by Elkanah Ayuba and MichaelKing Oyeyemi, who were positioned as right and left attacking midfielders respectively, expected to create chances for the forwards. Up front, Babalola Bolu played on the right, Emmanuel Okedigba on the left, and Akorede Obatuyi led the line as the central striker.
The match began with both teams probing for an early advantage, but it was SFA who would break the deadlock shortly after the half-time interval. Just two minutes into the second half, Akorede Obatuyi found the back of the net with a well-placed shot using his right foot, giving SFA a 1-0 lead. This goal set the tone for a dominant second half, as SFA continued to press the Dominican defence.
As the match progressed, SFA maintained their momentum, and it was Obatuyi again who struck in the 66th minute. This time, he scored from inside the box, showcasing his poacher's instinct and clinical finishing ability. With a second goal in quick succession, SFA firmly established their control over the match, leaving Dominican University with little chance to respond.
Despite Dominican University's efforts to rally back, SFA's defence held firm, with Ajiboye rarely tested in goal. The combination of solid defending and effective counter-attacking play ensured that SFA would take all three points from this encounter, concluding the match with a comfortable 2-0 victory.
In a performance that highlighted their tactical discipline and attacking prowess, SFA will take great confidence from this win as they look to build on their success in the tournament.
