Gbolahan Ajiboye took his place in goal, with a back four comprising Daniel Adesina on the right, David Jay-Jay and Elkanah Ayuba as central defenders, and Obinna Kingsley on the left. The midfield duo of Jimoh Ibrahim and Afeez Akeem provided a solid base, while Abdul-samad Adewole and Emmanuel Okedigba operated as right and left attacking midfielders, respectively. Ilori Taiwo played centrally behind the lone striker, Akorede Obatuyi, who was tasked with leading the line and finishing off chances.

The first half saw SFA assert their dominance, with their attacking intent evident from the outset. The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Akorede Obatuyi found the back of the net, giving SFA a well-deserved lead. His goal was a result of relentless pressure and clever movement, showcasing his ability to find space in the box.
As the teams headed into the half-time break, SFA held a 1-0 advantage, with Blue Wave FC struggling to find their rhythm against a resolute SFA defence. The referee, Tope, ensured the match flowed smoothly, allowing the players to express themselves without unnecessary interruptions.
