Match Report - CLIFTON ST VINCENTS B TEAM - 15 Jan 2022

To start with they looked like the better team. some players there that weren't there in previous game. they passed it around nice and we were in our own half for much of the first half. however we were resolute and organised so they didn't really scare us, but we were under the kosh. We weren't sloppy with the ball, but my instructions were to be direct, Locky pinging balls into the corners and for Nige to flick on. that was working OK, but not creating clear chances. we scored around 40 mins, a Lockyesque lob over from Adam, Nige beat the on rushing keeper to the ball and headed it over him. 1-0 half time. we played OK but needed to improve and brace for pressure in first 10 of second half. in fact they didn't come rushing out the gates, and we had the better of it. i got the ball out left, tucked onto my right and swazzed a ball to the back post for Nige to head in. glorious. they did seem a bit defeated. shortly after, i intercepted a pass at the back and was clean through but put it wide. just after that, Locky had a good chance on the edge of the box on his right foot but didn't quite get it right. It seemed like we were gonna run away with it. then 5 mad mins. 2 weird goals. first one the ball went through, their guy was walking back from offside had his hands in the air like : 'I'm not interfering', but then turned and ran onto the ball, had a shot and it hit Josh and there was bit of a scramble and it got turned in. Ahmed was running the line and didn't flag so it was weird. 2nd goal was similar, ball forward, Ahmed flagged for offside this time, goal mouth scramble, ended up in the net. Ref didn't really explain why he ignored Ahmed.

So they pushed for a winner and it looked like it was coming, but they huffed and puffed but didn't get any chances. We actually recouped and ended up putting the pressure on them for a winner. we huffed and puffed and Locky put in a great cross for Sam to head in but he put it wide. We definitely ended in the ascendancy and full time came too soon in the end.
