The long awaited 1st game of the season was not a disappointment as SMS met an organised opponent who to be honest could have been 2-0 up in the 1st 10 minutes as SMS seemed to be caught in the headlights with mistakes early on in defence, however it was soon to change as SMS got moving and with some great team play with the breakout Dom finished well after the ball was placed across the box by Wazza closely after again some great play with the team actually playing some great passing moves from the back through midfield and again into the path of Wazza for him to cross along the box for Kyle to finish neatly Franklin Streetwork found themselves totally outplayed by the attacking options from SMS on the 39th minute a direct ball by Pitcher found their defender trying to header back to his keeper who had come of his line only to see the ball going into the box. The 2nd half was a different affair as Streetworks piled on the pressure and if it was not for the SMS keeper Martin James who was in great form pulling out three outstanding saves SMS would have found themselves sharing the points, but with time running out Streetworks found the SMS defence resilient and ran out of ideas
Al in all a satisfying opening day fixture for SMS who must be pleased with no only the result but they way they played.
The Gaffa was satisfied saying after the game "we came out with the right attitude together with some outstanding football we deserved this victory"
