SJB Juniors Suffer Heavy Defeat Against Norton Lindsey

In a disappointing league encounter on 25 January 2025, SJB Juniors faced Norton Lindsey J U14 Girls at the Norrin Lindsey & Wolverton CC, where they succumbed to a 6-2 defeat. The match kicked off at 11:05 am, and despite a spirited effort, SJB Juniors were unable to match the attacking prowess of their opponents.

SJB Juniors lined up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, designed to provide a solid defensive base while allowing for quick transitions into attack. Grace McCombie took her place in goal, shielded by a back four comprising India Holt on the right, Tianna Berry-Gates and Mia Lewis in central defence, and Summer Brown on the left. The midfield was structured with Kyra Irving and Niamh Thompson on the flanks, while Maz Hadi and Daisy Cunningham operated centrally. Eva Hart played just behind the lone striker, Auraya Thomas, who was tasked with leading the line and converting chances into goals.

However, the joy was short-lived as Norton Lindsey were awarded a penalty in the 67th minute, which they converted to extend their lead to 5-2. An own goal from SJB Juniors in the 75th minute sealed a disappointing afternoon, concluding the match at 6-2 in favour of the opponents.

In the midst of the defeat, SJB Juniors displayed moments of quality, particularly in their attacking play, but ultimately, they were unable to contain the relentless offensive display from Norton Lindsey.
