First competitive game for SBAA, finished 2:0 with Shotts having numerous chances to kill the game off early, with atleast 10 clear cut opportunities to score it was a game of missed chances but got there in the end thanks to a persistent approach
Started off very brightly with Mark Duffy breaking down the left to cut inside and forcing the opposing goalkeeper to make a very good save by deflecting his effort onto the post. 5 minutes later Duffy broke away from the defence, when inside the box, squared the ball to Lynch whos effort was handled on the line, the refs view was obstructed and he gave a corner instead of the penalty.
SBAA had another 4 or 5 chances that they spurned by missing the target. on the 30th minuted a cross in the box was nodded down by Duffy to Adam whos tame left foot effort went straight at the keeper from 12 yards. On the 40th minute SBAA thought they had opened the scoring when J.Lynch scored a header from a McLean corner however the goal was ruled out due to the ref viewing j.Lynch to have pushed his defender before heading into the net.
Just before half time Motherwell broke on a defensive error and found their striker one on one with Jay from the left angle but Jay spread himself perfectly and kept out the shot, the first time Motherwell had worked a sight at the Shotts goal.

The second half started similar to the 1st with a through ball to Duffy whos shot was saved by the opposition goalkeeper who was having a very good game . On the 60th minute Matty Weymss came on and changed the game taking control of the middle of the park and driving Shotts forward. Creating chance after chance for Shotts but is was looking like it wasnt going to be Lynch or Duffy's day infront of goal.
On the 60th minute the number 8 for Motherwell put in a reckless tackle with 2 feet and was shown a straight red card.
With Shotts continuing to press and with a man advantage the spaces were beginning to open i the Motherwell defence, a through ball from the left by Ferguson found Duffy one on one with the goalkeeper with 30 yards to the goal, Duffy dribbled into the box and dinked the ball over the out rushing keeper to open the scoring.
A few moments later another through ball from the left from Eadon found Duffy one on one this time he knocked the ball passes the out rushing keeper and was taken down for a penalty.
There was a discussion between Lynch and Duffy for the penalty over who was taking it, Duffy and Lynch played 'rock, paper, scissors' with Duffy winning and slotting the penalty into the bottom right hand corner to make it 2:0
There were a few more half chances before the ref blew the final whistle
