Sharyland Ends 1st Half Of The Season 6-0!!!!

<p>The RGC game indicates that we are at halfway point of the season. The second round starts next week and thanks to some strong performances from several players, we were able to maintain our outstanding 6-0 record by beating a risiliant RGC team 5-1. One of the things that has been preached all season is that we respect the opponent and play them strong and aggressive from the initial whistle. RGC was coming into our tadium wanting to pull the major upset, and the way the game started, they seemed like they were well on their way to doing so. In the 8', the RGC forward received the ball after a goalie-defender mistake and saw a wide open goal to shoot at. GK Jorge Perez (#31) raced back in an attempt to deny the shot but unfortunately tripped and fell to the ground only to see the ball cross the line and into the back of the net to make it 0-1. After that though, Ruben Mendez (#7) and Martin Gonzalez (#15) started to control the midfield and started spraying balls for scoring opportunities, Mendez, a regular starter at the left midfield position was playing center mid for the suspended Gabo (#10). Taking his place was Mark Stephens (#12) ad getting his first start, in district, atleft midfield. Chava (#19) played in place of the also suspended, Pelon (#8) at the forward position. After a few opportunities and shots from Carlos Guerra(#18) and Papito (#6), Sharyland started to apply more pressure and eventually broke through with their first goal. Papito, after receiving an advantagoeus pass from Carlos Guerra, took a quick strike as soon as he received the ball to slot it in at the bottom righthand side of the net in the 14'. Six minutes later, Papito returned the favor as he placed a corner kick in the area for Carlos Guerra to masterfully head the ball into the top left corner of the goal to make it 2-1. Not quite finished, Sharyland kept the pressure on and in the 32', Papito slams a left footed shot the bounces off te GK only to be accidently knocked in by the RGC defender for the own-goal and make it 3-1. Not quite done yet with the scoring in the first half, Charly Cabrera (#5) sends a long pass from the defensive side of the field, where Papito wins from the defender and slots a left footed shot to make it 4-1 in the 39' and that's the way the half ended.

<p>To start the second half, Sharyland continued their dominance and in the 47' Junior (#22) got onto the score sheet with a nice strong tap in from a Papito corner kick to make it 5-1. That is the way that the game would end, but Sharyland had several more opportunities to increase their lead. There were some nice offensive efforts by Javi Gonzalez (#17), Mario Salinas (#24), Christopher Hernandez (#13), and Beto Martinez (#25). Shary starts the second half versus Vela Sabercats on Tuesday!!!!
