Longfleet Lionesses 0-2 Shaftesbury Ladies

This afternoon we travelled over to Poole to play a friendly against longfleet lionesses. Sadly it was only 9v9 and so on a smaller pitch with small goals, however, we rose to the challenge. First half we started strong, playing from defence and through midfield to give us plenty of chances. Strong aerial wins from Emma, Tracy and Lucy. Some great through balls to Jordan up front, however, the goal keeper managed to save every shot in such small goals!! Tracy, Lucy and Alex played some brilliant triangular passes down the wing and eventually Tracy managed to hit the back of the net with a well deserved goal from a cracking thrown from Scev. We continued this great play, having the majority of the possession and within their half. Scev, Jordan, Lucy and Trace had several more shots on goal but unfortunately it didn’t come through for us.

We made a number of subs at half time to give everyone the deserved minutes ?? Jo, Alex, Trace, Scev, Lucy & Jordan ??Izzy, Kate, Ro, G, Caitlin & Alisha. With so many fresh legs we started this half as strong as we started the first, again playing through defence and midfield. Unfortunately 6mins into the half Emma went down with an ankle injury, forcing another sun ??Emma ??Scev. Everyone was working hard for one another with some strong tackles from Ro and great runs from Alisha and Caitlin, however, the opposition were now all sitting back and limiting our opportunities to strike. At the water break we made our final changes ?? Stacey & Alisha ?? Alex & Jordan, and moving Caitlin up front and Jordan on the wing. Shortly after this, Caitlin made a great run, moving the ball from the half way line into the box, playing a cut back pass across to G who struck the ball and scored a cracking goal. The opposition continued to sit back for the rest of the game, as we worked hard to create playing opportunities.
