Seaford ladies enjoyed another win today and another cup win. Seaford we’re made to work really hard today for the win against a very energetic and hardworking Horsham team. Seaford started off really well with an early chance falling to Nadine Martin inside the first 10 minutes unfortunately she was unable to find the net possible having to much time to think about it with surprise amount of space inside the Horsham penalty area. Comfortable save for the goalkeeper in the end. Seaford still tried to play keeping the ball well but just struggling to find the final pass in the final third. Seaford started to think they may have a chance to win the game in first half And we’re caught out on a couple of occasion’s after good defending from Horsham who broke quickly into the big gaps in the Seaford defence left by Seaford over committing players forward. Luckily for Seaford Katy burr who had little to do so far on 20 minutes was put to the test in a 1v1 with Horsham striker and came out on top making a great save diving at the strikers feet bravely. Seaford did have a couple of more chances before half time a close effort from Franci with her supposedly weaker left foot firing just past the post. Franci who has been in fine form in-front of goal this year scoring 5 already maybe disappointed not to hit the target. Abz beadle also had a really good solo effort after receiving the ball just inside her own half driving through the Horsham defence and found her effort smartly saved by the Horsham keeper to what would of been a superb solo goal.
Half time 0-0
Second half Seaford came out and looked lively and had a real belief they could win the game. Seaford played a lot higher in the second half to close up gaps when the ball broke down and didn’t allow Horsham to counter attack as they did in the first half really well. The second half was pretty much played in the Horsham half and was wave and wave of attacking football, Seaford moving the ball really well and much quicker. Seaford finally made the break through on 72 minutes through substitute Sarah Barton for her first senior goal for Seaford town a close range finish from the holding midfielder who found herself intelligently inside the Horsham penalty area and was right place right time. Seaford managed to the control the game and ball to see out what was a hard fought win. Massive credit to Horsham sparrows who although in the league below, gave a really good account of themselves and made it really difficult for Seaford and also created chances themselves a really nice squad of players as well and we wish them luck for the rest of the season.
