Home league match

It’s been a busy summer for club manager Tom Saunters. A mass of friendlies against higher opposition and a fantastic recruitment of players in the right areas to strengthen the squad even further. In addition to this, managing to keep the majority of the existing squad from last season who won the ESFL Supplementary Cup and were undefeated in their last 13 games collecting 11 wins really shows the character and mentality of the club. Losing Gyimah Kwabena Asante was a big loss, and we wish him all the best at his new club.

A new season, a new division (ESFL Div 1) and a new squad. With 7 key players who featured regularly last season out for the first game of the season for various reasons, really shows the depth and quality Pass and Move has to offer this new league.

Debuts for four players in the squad. Tiltman and Hatch with the first to impact on the game. Looking calm and composed in a back three, Tiltman found the run of Hatch in the left hand corner who worked his magic and crossed it in to the box to last seasons club top goal scorer Wright. He continued where he left off and brilliantly smashed it in to the top corner. 1-0

Pip again involved with the next goal. A hard low shot that Sedlecombe’s keeper parried right into Booth’s forward run for a controlled left footed finish in to the back of the net. 2-0. Great to see Booth continuing his excellent pre-season goal scoring form after he spent the majority of last season on the sidelines through injury.

Sedlescombe came close with chances but found it difficult to break down the Arrows defence. Tiltman collected the ball wide left and hit a dangerous diagonal ball in the area, which beat the keeper and found the run of Harley Discala to slot it home. A well deserved goal for the shift he put in down the right flank.

Sedlescombe’s day got worse when Hatch sealed his debut goal right before the half after Paige’s shot was too powerful for the keeper and it fell to the foot of Hatch who thrives off them poacher goals. 4-0

Half-time time sub Davies, helped secure the last goal of the game driving in to the box past the last defender and lashed a shot, which Pip gratefully smashed in the rebound. 5-0.

Chris Scott’s MoM performance in the midfield can’t go without mentioning. A debut start and a rock in that holding role, controlling the tempo of the game with his string of passes.

A great start to the league and the club looks forward to our next fixture away to Battle.

Good luck to Sedlescombe for the rest of the season. ????
