Away league match
Rye Town put the Arrows 15 game unbeaten run to an end with a 3-2 win that saw a close contested game.
The game started with high intensity and it was Rye who capitalised early on after a wide cross found the opposite winger to put it away.
Rye’s high press tactic made it difficult for the Arrows to peruse an attack without being exposed at the back. Manager Saunters, adapted the tactics to bring a change of formation and substitution in the first half.
With the game looking more even, it was Rye who took the lead even further from a free-kick that was too hot to handle for Holland.
Striker Pip Hatch helped claw the arrows back into the game with a glancing header guided across goal from a pin point Chris Scott free kick into the box.
With the Arrows pushing for the equaliser it allowed Town to counter more freely at the defence. A well worked move from Rye and good finish put the home side 3-1 up with only 20 minutes left of the game.
With a nothing to lose attitude, Arrows continued their press and came good from a JonJo Wright attacking header that flew past the Rye keeper.
This put Rye under threat and made to realise the Arrows weren’t done fighting. An anxious end with chances wasted but not enough on the clock to find the equaliser.
