Home league match

The Arrows were eager for this game after last weeks game being called off and a poor start to the season the week before.

Manager, Tom Saunters made clear in the dressing room what he wanted from all of his players to ensure mistakes were not replicated from the previous performance.

A very bright start from the Arrows early on took the Mountfield defence by surprise and were struggling to cope with the constant pressure.

A Davies free-kick floated in far post found the head of Williams who headed it back across the Mountfield goal to find the side netting.

Shortly after, some great wing play by debutant Asante pulled it across to Wright whose shot was saved by the keeper but fortunate to have it bounce over him and cross the line.

Both Irving and H.Discala were able to join the attack with Mountfield offering little threat going forward in the first half. Davies picked the ball up from Wright’s pass in the box, and was brought down by the keeper. Penalty awarded and F. Discala Slotted it away comfortably, like he did all pre season.

Another corner, and Davies found the run of Williams near post who volleyed it past the keeper.

Cusden, who was linking up play all game was finally rewarded with a fine goal of his own. He received a short pass from striker JonJo Wright and beat his man to strike the ball over the keeper from outside the box.

Second half saw some changes, Honey, Pearse and Rico all coming on and immediately having an impact.

Early in the second half Rico was releasing Asante down the line on many occasions. One of those created the sixth goal after Asante pulled it across to F. Discala who intelligently lobbed the keeper with a great finish.

Mountfield were starting to create chances in our box. One that was brilliantly blocked by the sprinting Kovacs and another that was well saved by Holland from close range.

Late into the game, Wright was clinical with his chances and managed to secure another 2 goals from Cusden’s passes, gaining a well earned hat-trick and the match ball.

Although a strong attacking performance rewarded with goals, the defence and keeper, Holland can’t go unnoticed for their displays and clean sheet.
