Away league match

<p>Going into this game against the league leaders with a bare 11 was not exactly ideal. Withput Ryan and James to name but two, it was always going to be hard. We switched to a 4 5 1 formation and gave it a go. From the start, the effort was superb. We kept it tight and defended like trojans. On 23 minutes Rose and Thistle took the league with a nothing sort of goal. Now, on many other occasions our heads have gone down and we have conceeded a second. NOT TODAY! for the rest of the half, we continued to fight like tigers, and the half time score of only one down seemed like a victory. We started the second half well, defending against the early pressure and beginning to create a few chances of our own. On 65 minutes, a sweet passing move saw us cut through them, with Luke putting in a peach of a cross for Mikey to head home the equaliser. We then came under the cosh for a while as they fought to retake the lead. On 82 minutes, we gave away a penalty. And what a moment it provided as Liam not only saved the penalty, but somehow managed to save the shot that came back in after the original save. Awesome. On 89 minutes, we actually took the lead with a sweet low strike from Alex. THe last few minutes were tense, with our opponents having a penalty shout turned down. I like to think the ref gave us the benefit on that one because the Rose had been in his ear so much. To sum up..the back four of Omer, Scott, Steve and Gaggsy..you were epic. The midfield of Luke, Mikey, Chris, Alex and Rich worked like trojans, as did Nick in the tireless role of loan striker. And as for Liam in goal, not just the penalty save but a few others besides. The tackling, the pressing, the keeping our shape, the effort and commitment...all truly epic. It should show you lads just what you can achieve as a unit. We have found our formation, and I honestly believe that those who played will long remember this game as the best performance by a Country Mile. Thank you all
