Sandhurst Go Out Of Div 1 Cup With 3-1 Loss To Blakeburn

<p>This was the third time that we have faced Blakeburn this season. With one win and a draw behind us, there was reason for optimisism. THe first half produced no goals, but it was hard fought with Blakeburn hitting the woodwork twice and Ryan making a couple of superb saves. That said Sandhurst probably had the best chance of the half, with Scott bursting through the middle in a great move only to put the ball narrowly wide. Five minutes into the second half Blakeburn broke through the middel, two missed tackles and we were one down. We fought back well, and within 5 minutes Mark was brought down just outside the area and Steve fired in a great direct free kick. The game turned on 65 minutes when the ref decided to award them a penalty when even their player said there was no contact. On 79 minutes the game was as good as over when the ref missed their handball in the area and a goalmouth scramble saw them score. Now it may sound like a lack of luck cost us the game, but in fairness they closed us down well for the full 90 minutes, had the better chances and if not for a couple of outrageous saves from Ryan we would have been well beaten anyway. Lets dust ourselves down for the next game when we have a chance to go above White Hart in the league. Remember how we were closed down on SUnday, and lets do the same ourselves!
