Washington Westwood 2-4 Sacriston WMC
Sacriston made it 3 wins in 3 this morning with a good 4-2 win away to Washington.
Sacriston took the lead early on when Luke Wilson found the top corner with an excellent free kick from the edge of the box.
The next 20 minutes or so were pretty even but Washington then had a man sent off after Luke was brought down when through on goal after latching onto a great ball from Harry Tait. Luke then dispatched the subsequent penalty to make it 2-0.
Just before half time Sacriston got their third when the Winter’s linked up down the right and Tom’s strike looked destined for the net only for it to hit the inside of the post and come back out but thankfully Luke was on hand to fire home for his hat-trick.
Credit to Washington who kept fighting and made it 3-1 with a header in the second half before Sonni Armstrong scored for Sacriston to kill the game off, finishing calmly after some good work from David Winter to set him up. Washington did get a second goal late on but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome of the match which ended 4-2.
Man of the match went to Luke Wilson who was dangerous throughout and bagged a deserved hat-trick.
We’d also like to give a shout-out to Sacriston’s answer to Steve Bruce aka Chris Mordue who picks up the manager of the month award with a 100% win record in January after a difficult 2022.
