Sacriston WMC 5-1 Langley Park

Sacriston made it four wins in a row this morning with an excellent win at home to Langley Park.

The first half was an even affair but neither side could find a break through, with Langley starting the better team and Sacriston ending the half stronger.

15 minutes into the second half Sacriston took the lead when Big Dog Sonni Armstrong leapt like a salmon and face planted the ball home from a George Daglish cross. Langley hit back soon after to make it 1-1 with a powerful half volley at the back post.

Sacriston then made a double sub with Rob Draper and Sam Renwick entering the field and the two combined not long after to make it 2-1 with Sam’s powerful strike into the bottom corner from outside the box after Rob’s clever flick on.

It was then 3-1 when Sam latched onto Adam Wilson’s long pass and dinked over the keeper. With Langley now tiring Sacriston continued to look dangerous and David Winter made it 4-1, connecting with Ben’s through ball before smashing it past the keeper into the roof the net.

As the game closed out there was time for one more as David latched onto a rebound in the box before calmly rounding the keeper and finishing to make it 5-1. Another fantastic result for Mordue’s men who continue their good run of form in 2023.

Man of the match went to club legend Michael Finch who was subbed on midway through the first half and rolled back the years with a composed performance that Franz Beckembauer would have been proud of.
