HARRIERS ARMS 0 ROEBUCK 1

The Buck kicked off the season with an away trip to just outside Stourport to face Harriers Arms. Roebuck gave debuts to all 4 of there summer signings, keeper Callum Hughes, defender Curtys Willetts, midfielder Anthony Cox, forward Niki Faux and also included the returning Aaron Craig after his brief spell away from the club.

The game was tight throughout, the Buck also felt in control of the game and knocked the ball around nicely but Harriers were well organised and hard to break down making them a tough opponent. Niki Faux was unlucky to hit wide of the mark on the stretch in the first half but the best chance of the half fell to Harriers Arms as their forward broke through but Callum Hughes stood tall and saved the attempted lob over him from just inside the penalty area.

Harriers remained compact and organised in the second half but as the minutes ticked by the Buck started to create more and became guilty of wasting chances with poor efforts and misplaced final balls. With the game looking like it’s was heading to a draw Cox picked up the ball down the left wing and picked out Craig with his cross who finished with a hard struck shot to finally beat the Harriers keeper, 0-1. As the game went into the last minute Callum Hughes again pulled off a fantastic save to secure the 3 points as the Harriers piled everyone forward for a corner.

At the full time whistle referee Roger Morris awarded Antony Cox the Man of the Match award.
