The Roach lads knew that a win would secure the league, so we urged them to start quickly and work hard for each other against a team who had beaten them twice previously this season. A strong start was exactly what we got and in just the 6th minute, the attacking pressure paid off, Ben providing the final pass for Tobi who slotted home. 10 minutes later, a corner whipped in by Connlley was met by a glancing header from James to make it 2-0. Then, just before the half hour mark, Frankie fed a through ball to Tobi who grabbed his second of the game and made it 3-0 by half time.
The half time talk was an easy one; keep going and don't get complacent.
In the second half, Jamie was causing all kinds of problems on the left wing and when his 54th minute shot was saved, Ethan was there to follow up and grab his first goal of the season. With the Roach lads feeling comfortable, the confidence on the ball increased and when Connlley found Martim open with a good diagonal ball, he finished coolly to make it 5-0. With 5 minutes to go, more good work from Jamie on the left wing found Rohan, playing in an unusual centre forward role, and he tapped in the 6th before, right at the death, Tobi found Rohan again and with a poacher's instinct, he tucked away the 7th and final goal.
Man of the match went to James who was solid at the back, controlled on the ball, and commanding throughout the game.
