With almost all of their league games played, Roach U16 Whites were handed a friendly against an unbeaten team from the league above.
We told the lads this was going to be a good challenge following their recent excellent form, and it was even more of a test with illness and injuries leaving the team down to the bare 11.
Whites started the game on the front foot and took the lead 2 minutes in, good recycling of the ball by Ben, a through ball by Riley and Tobi nutmegged the keeper to finish a good move.
The lead was held for 30 minutes until a free header from a corner gave Barrhill the equaliser.
At half time, we told the lads it was going to be a tiring and tough second half, against a team with the maximum matchday squad of 18 players.
Tired legs let Barrhill in to take the lead, but then in the 60th minute, good pressure from Roach saw Logan pick up the loose ball and fire home from the edge of the box. The chance to bring on fresh legs really helped the hosts and they wore Roach down, grabbing a third goal 10 minutes later which proved to be the winner.
A good performance which on another day, with a full squad, could easily have been a win against a good team.
Man of the match went to Harvey in the Roach goal who made some excellent saves.
