Match Report - Littleborough JUNIOR U13 YELLOW - 06 Nov 2021

A tightly contested game of two halves this morning.

Last seasons game against the same opposition ended in a draw and was a brilliant game so Roach Greens were looking forward to this one.

We asked the team to give us their best performance from the first whistle and the first half was all Roach. 10 minutes in and Logan threaded a ball through to Ewan who used his pace and strength to beat the defence and then slot home past the keeper. Roach grabbed a second shortly after which was unfortunately just offside and then another goal which unfortunately deflected off an arm before being scored so the score remained 1-0. Just before half time, Jailson hit a trademark effort from just outside the area which flew past the keeper, came back off the post, hit the keeper again but somehow stayed out. Roach Greens were unlucky to only be ahead by one and the half time message was that the game could change easily. And in the second half it did.

Littleborough were pushing much harder, winning possession and attacking well. They grabbed an equaliser in the 42nd minute, then went ahead after 54 minutes. They then hit the woodwork themselves with a lobbed effort coming back off the bar. Roach Greens were asked to pick up the energy levels and for the last 10 minutes pushed hard for an equaliser. Chances came and went and it looked like it wouldn't be our day. With 2 minutes to go Roach got corner after corner which Littleborough defended well. Another corner was then fired in by debutant Dylan and this time George was able to poke it home for a last minute equaliser. The game finished as a draw again and was probably the right result.

Man of the match awards went to Harvey for an outstanding game on the right of defence, Dylan for a solid first game at the back and George for great effort and a well deserved equalising goal.
