vs Kersal FC U13s
Home league match
A game of two halves today.
Roach Greens were up against a good Kersal team and started brightly with Ewan causing havoc down the right wing again. Unfortunately, Roach weren't able to finish the couple of good chances they got and after 8 minutes were punished when Kersal grabbed the first goal. Sadly, the usual effort and hard work that we ask for was lacking in the first half and that meant Kersal were winning too many of the loose balls and scoring some great team goals, through their effort and commitment. Goals 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 followed before the half time whistle finally went.
A harsh but necessary team talk came at half time and we demanded that Roach at least show some desire, effort and pride to go and try to win the second half.
It obviously worked and in the 38th minute, a ball from Callum down the right set Ewan free to attack the Kersal goal and grab his first goal of the game. Four minutes later and Ewan got his second, this time set up by a good through ball from Jailson. Ewan was causing all sorts of problems down the right and turned creator in the 50th minute for Alex to finish the move making it 8-3 to Kersal. Seven minutes later, Kersal scored a great individual goal but then in the 61st minute, Ewan completed his second hat-trick in two games after a great flick on from Logan. Kersal then upped the pressure again and grabbed two more goals before Cody grabbed a 5th Roach consolation goal after an effort by Alex came back out to him in the box.
(The game finished 11-5 to Kersal but their coach had accidentally recorded the score as 11-6 at the final whistle which is why an own goal has been added to the match stats ??!) A better second half and much more like the performance we expect from the team! ??
Man of the match awards went to Callum who played well again at right back and showed the effort we had been asking for, Dan for his second stand out performance at left back and Ewan who caused problems down the right and grabbed another hat-trick.
