Home friendly match

A final game before a hard earned 3 week break and what a performance to finish on. Roach Greens welcomed back James for his first game in over 6 months after a long injury. We played 10 v 10 on the new bigger pitch as Rammy Tigers had a last minute injury of their own and couldn't field 11 players but they started well and actually took the lead in the 9th minute with a nice finish into the far bottom corner. Greens came from behind last week and managed to do the same again today, new boy Logan getting his 3rd goal in 2 games after a good assist from Alex down the left of the area. 5 minutes later and Logan was in on the action again, this time providing an assist for Ewan who made no mistake with a great finish. A couple of subs changed the centre midfield positions for Roach, with Xavier and Jailson on for their first action of the day. And it took just 2 minutes before Jailson showed what he's capable of, picking the ball up in centre midfield, shifting it out of his feet and hitting an absolute rocket from 25 yards out into the roof of the net! An absolute screamer! 3-1 at half time.

The half time advice was to carry on but work better on the partnerships across the midfield. Cody and Logan were reintroduced at half time in the wide midfield roles.

And it was Cody who grabbed a well deserved 4th goal for Greens. Some good work from Dan in midfield played Cody in, he shifted it onto his right foot and curled it into the bottom left corner, off the post and in. Alex was so unfortunate again to not get a goal, getting into all the right positions but he made way on 50 minutes for Joe to play out the last 10. Rammy Tigers were tiring now and Greens took full advantage, Joe bagging the 5th with a smart finish into the corner after good interplay between Logan and Cody. With the game about to end, Jailson saw his opportunity for an even better goal. This time, from about 30 yards out, he steadied himself and hit another absolute rocket into the roof of the net. 6-1 was the final score and what a way to finish the season!

Man of the match awards went to James for a great confident performance in his first game back, Alex for his persistence and effort up front doing just what we'd asked of him and Nate who, despite not wanting to play in defence, put in his best performance of the season.
