vs Ramsbottom United Juniors U12 Raiders

Away friendly match

An end of season friendly gave us the chance to have a look at 3 new players and what a good game it was.

Rammy Raiders got off to a great start with a goal in the 3rd minute from a good header at the back post. Roach Greens looked a little nervous after going behind so early on and needed to show a little more composure on the ball rather than rushing and trying to force a goal. Ewan made some good saves in the Roach goal but in the 20th minute, Rammy scored a great counter attack goal with an excellent strike, following a long diagonal ball. 2-0 at half time.

At half time we talked about keeping calm, keeping possession and using the ball better.

The second half started better with chances coming Roach's way but second half keeper George could do nothing about a neat, near post finish which put Rammy 3-0 up.

Then came the come back! Roach showed fantastic spirit and grabbed a goal back just a minute later, debutant Logan finishing with an absolute rocket after brilliant work down the right from Harvey. Greens kept pushing and in the 49th minute, Alex got a touch at the back post for a real poacher's goal after good work in the midfield from Xavier, also on his debut. Just 3 minutes later and the scores were level, a more scrappy goal as Logan slammed home his second following a scramble in the Rammy box.

From that point on, it looked like Roach would go on and win it but we couldn't quite find a 4th goal, while Josh, Harvey and George kept us safe at the other end with some great defending and saves.

Man of the match awards went to new boy Logan for his 2 goals and all round contribution, George for a good first half display and a good 2nd half in goal after so long playing outfield and Nate who showed real desire to win the ball back and use it well as we'd asked the team to. Well done Greens ??
