Match Report - PENNINE JUNIORS U12 WHITE - 08 May 2021

A very difficult and tough scoreline to take today but sometimes these things happen.

The conditions were horrible with the rain not stopping from the first whistle to the last. Roach Greens actually played some of the better football in the first half but the Pennine keeper was having a great game. A lucky first goal and an unlucky mistake after a skidded shot put Greens 2 goals behind in the first half, before the keeper showed great form again to deny Jailson from the penalty spot.

Unfortunately, Pennine scored with the first attack of the second half and it seemed to deflate Roach Greens. Heads dropped and so then did the effort levels at times. Another goal for Pennine was not far behind making it 4-0. Arguably the best goal of the game came next and it was Roach Greens'. Some fantastic footwork from Jailson on the right wing took him past two defenders before he whipped a ball across the box for Alex to expertly smash home. This gave Greens a bit of a boost and Jailson went amazingly close to a second goal, with a shot from distance which beat the keeper before bouncing off one post, rolling along the goal line and bouncing of the other post. So unlucky! A fifth Pennine goal effectively killed the game off with Roach heads dropping and they finished the game with two more goals in the last 2 minutes.

A cruel defeat but Roach Greens will learn from it and continue to enjoy a fine season.

Man of the match awards went to Jailson for his clever assist and some good decision making, Josh for another solid all round display and Harvey for calmness on the ball and trying to use it well at all times.
