Match Report - Littleborough JUNIOR U12 YELLOW - 13 May 2021

A first evening game of the season for Roach Greens, and what a good game it was.

Playing another team who had recently dropped into our division from the league above, Roach Greens knew they were in for another tough game but they didn't let it phase them. Greens started the game well, competing for every ball and took the lead when Jailson shifted the ball out of his feet and rifled home from outside the box. Littleborough then turned up the pressure and some good play resulted in a well worked equaliser. Keeping up their momentum, Littleborough went on the attack for the rest of the half, scoring a scrappy second and then a third headed in from a corner.

At half time, we talked about being a bit more calm on the ball, working hard for each other and taking our chances to attack and shoot.

Six minutes in to the second half and some more solid work in midfield from Jailson ended in a fine through ball to Alex who steadied himself and slotted it around the keeper into the goal. A minute later, quick thinking from Ewan in goal saw him take a quick, long kick which beat the high Littleborough backline. The ball was bouncing awkwardly but Alex chased it down and then, cool as you like, lobbed the outrushing keeper to score the equaliser. From that point on, the game could've gone either way but Ewan made some absolutely heroic saves in the Roach goal to keep the scores level and it ended 3-3.

Man of the match awards went to Ewan who's saves kept Roach Greens in the game, Alex who showed real class with his two finishes and Josh who was colossal at the back again.
