Match Report - BURY ALL STARS U12 - 14 Aug 2021

Another game where the scoreline was not reflective of the match.

Bury All Stars are a team who were promoted last season, suffering only two defeats, and have also added a couple of quality players, so Roach Greens knew they were in for a tough game. And so it proved to be.

Bury All Stars took the lead in the 6th minute after some good play left their striker one on one. Roach managed to lift themselves though and created chances by spreading the play out wide as we'd practiced. In the 21st minute, Roach got their reward when good attacking play by Ewan and a great cross was turned in by their defender for an own goal. Before the end of the first half though, Bury had managed to grab a second and a third goal leaving them 3-1 up at half time.

The second half was much more positive for Roach Greens, closing down, dominating spells of play and creating chances, which on another day would've brought us at least level, if not in front. The strength of the Bury forward line showed through again though with them grabbing two more goals in quick succession to kill the game off. Roach played for pride and continued to make chances, some blocked and saved by their keeper, others unfortunately off target.

5-1 was a little cruel, but plenty of positives to take into the next match.

Man of the match awards today went to James who was solid in goal, commanding his area and stopping lots of shots, Josh who refused to be bullied by strikers twice his size and Ewan, who created the goal and was so unlucky not to score near the end.
