Match Report - Brandlesholme WARRIORS JUNIOR U12 JETS - 24 Oct 2020

Roach went in to today's game high in confidence after last week's win. The first noticeable thing was the heavy muddy pitch which meant that the team talk this week focused on passing and 'making the ball do the work'.

Roach started strongly and in the 6th minute, Nate picked up the ball on the edge of the area and hit a decent shot at goal, which ended up in the back of the net after a bit of a fumble by the keeper. Brandlesholme gathered themselves though and played some good football to get an equaliser after 17 minutes and then take the lead just 3 minutes later. It was time for Roach Greens to re-focus and they did just that, winning a penalty in the 24th minute which Cody slotted home coolly.

2-2 at half time and a great game.

The second half started evenly but the hard work by Roach Greens soon paid off. In slightly contentious circumstances, with a Brandlesholme player down injured, the ref let play carry on and a shot from the edge of the box was saved by the keeper but Callum followed up well, forcing the keeper into another save before Joe slammed home the rebound. Goal of the game came next with Cody picking up the ball in the midfield, shifting it out of his feet, lifting his head and sending an absolute rocket into the roof of the net from well outside the area. Roach kept pushing and more good work from Callum got him another assist, this time with the ball falling to Alex to slot home at the far post. The final goal of the game came about a minute from the end. This time superb work by Alex out on the left wing resulted in a cross which the Brandlesholme defender unluckily turned into his own net.

A 6-2 win and a performance to be proud of.

Man of the match awards this week went to Cody for his worldie of a goal and a more confident display, Nate for a clever midfield display and his first goal of the season and Alex for some brilliant wing play.
