Home league match
Rivets welcomed last seasons Division One winners Tetsworth, who were coming off the back of a 10-0 demolition of fellow prem side Long Matston. Looking for their second league win on the bounce, Rivets started the stronger side, creating a couple of early chances that really should have resulted in goals. Tetsworth didn't really get going and Rivets capitalised with a good pull back from Troy finding Craig, who rocketed a pea-roller straight down the middle to give the lads a deserved lead.
Rivets didn't really kick on from there and spent most of the second half arguing, so it was no surprise they went 2-1 down heading into the break.
Rivets started the second half brightly and soon found themselves on level terms. Matt Tagg (who had a great game coming on at left back) with the assist for Marc, who found the far corner with a long range strike. Rivets gathered momentum as the half went on and were perhaps a bit wasteful with some of their final balls, but not a lot was happening down the other end of the field with the defensive unit mopping up nicely. As we moved into the final third of the game, a good turn between 2 players from Craig caught the Tetsworth defence off guard and the insuring cross was bundled over the line by midfield-dog Leon Salter. Things got worse for the visitors, as they found themselves 2 goals behind after a corner from Craig was nicely headed home by Troy just a few minutes later.
Tetsworth were thrown a lifeline when some poor organisation from a corner allowed a free-header to bring them back within one and possibly make for an uncomfortable last 10 mins for the home supporters. Rivets stood firm and battled to see it through, and probably should have wrapped the game up sooner with a couple of good chances falling to Logan, but nevertheless, a solid 3 points to make it 3 wins out of 4 in the league and bring the lads joint top of the table.
