In the aftermath of last night’s atrocities in Manchester, things like the loss and underwhelming performance of the lads last night seem minute in comparison.
The Revs send their heartfelt condolences to all those affected and hope the scum that keeps terrorising this fantastic free world are dealt with, in this life or the next.
As for proceedings last night, The Revs were up against a new team in YTB – and The Revs never play well against a new team. Add to that, during warm up, the captain pulled a calf muscle and it wasn’t the best start.
From the off the opposition peppered The Revs, who looked all at sea, still struggling to adapt to new surroundings. If it was not for Myers the game would have been well and truly over by half time.
Too many misplaced passes, hopeful balls and lack of concentration ensured Myers was in for a busy day.
However, against the run of play, Allen slipped in Hartrick who evaded his defender to slot home. This just served to irk the opposition and as a result The Revs batted down the hatches for the onslaught coming their way.
It was a game of attack and defence. This is not to say The Revs didn’t have chances, we did, we just could not put them away or the final ball just wasn’t good enough.
However, at half time it was 1-1 and The Revs were in this game thanks mainly due to Myers.
And so the second half continued and as tired legs and tired minds took over, so came with it openings for the opposition. Eventually goal 2, 3 and 4 came their way.
There really isn’t much to say further with regards to the game. Steane was close to losing his head, the ref clearly doesn’t like us and D. Pinkstone put a lad on his arse much to the amusement of everyone watching.
3 games left to go, The Revs playing severely under par at the moment but when you wake to the news of Manchester does it all really matter?
