Top of the table v a Revs team that played really well last week but lost 3-0? Tasty.
And it was. With Gaz and Matty absent the Revs were lining up strong with a brace of Pinkstone's back, Olly in goal, me up top, and Lewis, Jamie, Ty and James all up in the grill of midfield. This lot may be top of the league but they'd never battered us out of sight, nowt to lose.
Really there's not a load to write about the game. We defended really well, earned a bit of luck last week that we cashed in this when they hit the bar late on but the main points were these:
1. They scored in the first half with a shot from a way out that swerved in the air enough to fool everyone. I was right behind it and it moved around more than [NAME REDACTED] in strip bar.
2. We played well first half as they offered very little other than the goal. Great work to shut them down and keep them shooting from distance.
3. Up top chances were hard to come by but the one great chance we did create we scored from - Lew's header finding Jimbo who finished well. They're top for a reason and we did have a few half chances but nothing else clear cut. I grazed a post later from out wide but being clinical enough to score your one good chance is the future lads, I've seen it, it's where we need to be.
4. This was an excellent performance from everyone, we do award a man of the match (well done Ty) but really every single player played their part. Special mention to both Ty and Jamie who were brilliant when needed at the back and in midfield.
5. As it goes we'll be playing top of the league again next week, so same again please lads.
