Home league match

The Revs were out at the weekend and rolled into Monday's game hungover, tired, and still trying to get their head around 50% of the things Phil said the last 48 hours. Unfortunately Phil was far too weak willed to play so couldn't be questioned further, so we'd just have to get into the game and forget about it all.

Look, a pigeon.

Matty took a night off as the Revs lined up strongly with Olly in goal, Ty, James, Jamie, Lewis, Dave P, Gaz and me all reporting for duty. We'd played our opponents before and lost in a game we'd been pitiful in, could we improve on that in our current state? We had a 50/50 shot.

The game began with lots of Revs possession, The Rosse backed off and played deep. Unfortunately we struggled to make the most of it, lots of passes going astray and our final ball lacking right form the off. We were defending well but it already felt like a game we were going to look back at and wish we hadn't been hungover. Sure enough we conceded, 1-0 down to a silly goal, and briefly it felt like it could be a long night.

That was until Lewis had his Diego moment.

Picking the ball up just inside his own half Lewis set off on a run. Past one defender and another he was forced a bit wide and everyone, including the Rosse defence. expected a cross. Instead Lew picked out the top corner like a pro leaving even the referee remarking on his 'great finish'. Bit of a stunner and the breakthrough we needed.

As the game went on it settled into a familiar pattern - we have all the possession and don't create enough, they break and look dangerous. More passes and final balls went astray and they went close a couple of times. From a corner the ball broke to Ty who looked long to me up front. After a wild slash from the defender the ball bounced free and a touch and a finish later we were ahead, could we hold on?

The last 10 minutes were where Olly earned his MotM as tired legs and even tireder minds let them in for some really good chances. Our one-man wall stood firm and kept them out, and mercifully the final whistle blew on a game, and a weekend, the Revs needed a good night's sleep to get over.

So another 3 points, we can compete in this league, can we break the top 2 next week? We'll see
