Best Football For A While!

So Power Play had finally paid attention and from the 19 teams they have on their books, two divisions for the new season were born.

This will be much better for The Revs who will be able to compete across an entire season rather than a scattering of weeks here and there.

And yes the scoreline suggests a one sided game but that was far from the truth. In fact it was probably some of the best football The Revs had played in a long time. Steane playing out from the back, setting the base for the team to move forward. And boy was there some lovely interplay.

Unfortunately for The Revs this team had a couple of newbies that made the difference and by the time the team had settled found themselves 3 down. Not a good start. However, once settled The Revs really gave them a game.

A few quick fire goals at the end of the first half, from Hartrick and Tyman, meant The Revs were back in it at 3-2.

However, looking for that equaliser meant leaving themselves open at the back and the speed of the counter attack from the two young lads on the opposition meant they always carried a goal threat. And had it not been for Steane, who was in fine form, it could have been over much sooner than it was.

The Revs had further chances in the second half, especially from the captain Evans who squandered The Revs two best second half opportunities and with that came further breakaway attacks and ultimately The Revs paid the price for not making the most of the space and opportunities afforded with a further 3 goals conceded.

And so the curtain came down on a 6-2 loss which seems a real hammering, but the truth is The Revs played some lovely stuff and had they gone into this game with a bit more confidence it could have been much different.

If anything though, at least the smiles and the passion were back on display, so onwards and upwards!
