The Revs are well stocked at the moment so last night captain James Evans took the night off as everyone else reported in for duty. Everyone apart from Olly that is who was at a birthday party. Is this better or worse than a BBQ? Probably better as you get a party bag, all you usually get from a BBQ is the shits.
So another week against a side at the top end of the table and a big shift required. We lined up confidently with me up top, Gaz and Ty behind, Dave P and Jamie A at the back. On the bench we had Lewis and Phil and we looked strong. Against a side who had always beaten us in close games we should have been well up for this, cue a terrible first half.
Basically we shit ourselves for the first ten and never laid a glove on them. Too much respect, sitting too deep because we were worried about the counter, negative comments, and giving them nothing to think about in terms of our attacking. Not good and deservedly we went behind, then conceded another silly goal, and another. 3-0 down and largely our fault, we did rally a bit and finish the first half stronger but without creating a clear cut chance. As D:Ream once said, things can only get better.
So the job was on to win the second half. It was at this point we did concede a fourth despite playing better. It was also at this point my nose started bleeding and I had to go to the toilet to sort it out. Did I miss Lewis' goal? Not for me to say, but I will describe it like this - Lewis scored a great goal with his *left/right foot and/or head after a *sweeping counter-attack/great passing move/rebound after a fine shot/corner/free kick assisted by *Ty / Matty / Gaz / Dave P. / Jamie.

So 4-1 and the game fizzled out, a couple of great saves from Matty one end, possession with no real creation at the other. They are a decent side who could be got at, we never got close enough to them to make anything happen really but there are far more winnable games ahead. Next week is big if we're serious about competing in this league, bring it on.
