Before we start this I'm just going to put it out there; I have no idea what the team we played last night was actually called. For the sake of this match report and because they played in black I'm just going to call them The Empire.

Leading the rebellion last night was the Revs with a full squad other than me and Phil Pinkstone, both out for being frozen in Carbonite. That meant Hans Ollo in goal, Jamie Anakin, Droid Pinkstone, and Qui-Gonn-Jim-Evans sharing defensive duties, Ty Fighter, Lewbacca and Greedo Beardall doing most of the work in the middle, and Darth Matt up front.

For the first five minutes we were pretty awful, pumping long balls up and giving the ball away every single time but defensively we were resolute like all proper Rebellions are. We then shifted the game plan to play a bit more football, look for feet and try to keep the ball more, and by Yoda did it pay off.

We remained excellent defensively but started to create chances for ourselves, pushing them deeper and they immediately didn't like it. Greedo Beardall was probing, Ty Fighter tackling, and they started giving the ball away themselves. We deserved a goal but would we get one?

Yes.

I mean you were all there so I don't really know why I asked the question to be honest. You all literally saw it, we did get a goal, so that little moment of suspense was a nonsense all in.

Basically, quicker than the Millennium Falcon can make the Kessel Run we pushed, played a few passes, Greedo working the ball out to Droid Pinkstone who finished really nicely. 1-0 and halftime immediately came with us feeling positive.

We did concede in the second half, Hans Ollo just missing scooping out the ball from a nasty back spin, but that wasn't the whole story. We controlled the game, we shot first up top and in turn gave them the shooting positions we wanted rather than silly one-on-ones or tap ins. All in the final whistle blew at 1-1 and while the Empire hadn't been completely toppled, this rag tag band of Ewoks had certainly won the battle of Endor/Shipley.

Sidenote: Imagine if the game had finished 2-2 or 3-0, the droid based jokes would have been the best ever.
