5aside Is The Future! Or The Past?!?

This week the Revs went back in time to play 5-a-side, which was a bit weird all in.

Our opposition were running drills in their warm up and doing Rondos, we were hitting the ball as hard as we could at Matty, I'm not saying our approach is better but we were all fine, they managed to injure one of their players leaving them a man short. They asked to borrow someone because we had subs, we said no because we've been done over more times by a ringer than Phil's had looks in the mirror. So we journeyed back in time to play fives, and we enjoyed it.

With only Olly (work) and Phil (sexual accident) missing we lined up strong and as per conceded the first goal having given possession away carelessly. No worries, after a cheeky nutmeg I bagged an equaliser from Gaz's pass, then Jimbo's back heel put us ahead, then I lost track but I think it went:

I got two more - one from Gaz's pass, one from Jimbo's, both similar clipped finishes.

Ty got two, one from my pass rifled in from so far out it was almost on Canal Road, and another after a run from his own tackle Maradona-style.

Gaz got one, or two, I can't remember, but he scored so let's say it was an overhead kick from 40 yards out. If he did get another it was a mazy dribble around the whole team and a chipped finish, if he didn't forget all that.

Dave P hit the woodwork more times than Jesus Christ in the carpentry years, another night he would have had a hat-trick.

Matty conceded another thanks to slack closing down from the defence but came out and played as more of a sweeper second half, t'was lovely stuff.

Lewis took a kick in and managed to take it in such a way that at no point was the ball actually in play.

We had a load of chances, more shots than in any game I can remember, and it ended 7-2, or 8-2, no one seemed to know and paying for it was even more confusing. Anyway we won, next game can't come soon enough.
