Home league match
Familiar foes Diemen faced The Revs for the first time in a few seasons and old rivalries were re-acquainted.
These games always full of passion and pride and this one was no different. It had goals, some great team efforts, wonderful saves and even a sinbin for the opposition.
In the end Diemen nicked the victory more through error than skill.
The Revs got off to the perfect start with a ball through by Myers to find Lewis Evans who struck low and hard after 2 minutes.
However, The Revs were caught cold from the restart and it was all square again after 3 minutes played.
And in the frantic start the opposition quickly took the lead 2-1 with barely 5 on the clock.
The game settled after that but a third from Diemen seemed to put them in command at half time.
Early drama once again in the second half as Allen was taken clean out from a slide tackle from behind leaving the ref no option but to sinbin the lad.
With a man extra, The Revs took advantage and a great kick in by Beardall afforded Hartrick the time to place the ball through the keepers legs and make it interesting at 3-2.
The opposition ploughed on but were up against Myers who thwarted them at every opportunity. Dave Pinkstone was equally a thorn the other way in the opposition as clever runs were been found easily with a simple ball into him. The support play from the midfield duo of Evans and Tyman was also a huge concern for the opposition.
However, off the back of this good momentum the opposition grabbed a 4th, effectively sealing the tie. Their speed on the break clearly evident throughout.
A late goal by Hartrick after been slotted in by Tyman made the last few minutes interesting but Diemen held on for the narrow victory.
The Revs once again showed they can compete with the elite and on another day, mistakes won't be punished, and The Revs claim the points.
A very good display by all involved and should give confidence going into the next few games.
