Home league match

Da Boys were hammered 11 goals to 1 last week. So the The Revs could be forgiven for thinking this game may have been more competitive than it was.

Add to the mix a 20 year Serbian baller on the books of Halifax Town meant it was anything but competitive - especially the first half.

The young Serbian dazzled, dummied and dribbled his team to victory within the opening half. Meanwhile leaving The Revs dizzy!

It was not for lack of effort in the baking heat either but there are levels... and he was a good few (seriously understated here) levels above anyone The Revs have.

You could also forgive The Revs for throwing in the towel at half time with the scoreline 5-0, but credit to the boys they kept going. Yes the opposition took their foot off the gas a bit, but The Revs also got on the ball more.

The only thing missing for their second half efforts was, as seems to be the case over the last few months, an actual goal.

There were chances... Hartrick's brilliant control was wasted with his shot that went high, wide and mighty (although gave the old boys a breather!). Beardall had a wild volley that just never dipped. Pinkstone Jnr was played in only for his shot to be right at the keeper and very weak. And Evans Snr wished he had more hair in order to get more purchase on his header that went wide from an Allen cross.

The Revs are lacking a serious bit of luck at the moment. And who didn't need luck? The opposition...

So when Pinkstone Jnr intercepted a pass through and it looped over the last man to their waiting attacker to make it 6-0 you knew The Revs were not getting any kind of look in when the lucky charms were being handed out.

It could have been worse had it not been for Pinkstone Snr's brilliant block for a certain goal whilst laid on the floor.

And the 6aside version of Messi still had time to toy with The Revs further, who were now using every ounce of energy to stop the scoreline getting worse. At one point Allen was glued to the lad, but the ball somehow magnetically stuck to his foot not allowing Allen a sniff.

Eventually the ref put everyone out of their misery and blew the final whistle.

So how did this lot lose 11-1 the previous week?? Turns out their star man does not play for them often and half the team were soaking up the sun in Ibiza so they only had 4 players available... and they still managed what we can't with a full compliment... a goal!!

And so onto the final game next week. It would be good to end the season with a performance, let alone a victory!
