vs Chicken Sane

Home league match

Sometimes you play a team better than you, and the Revs did this week but emerged with pride intact if a little bruised and battered physically.

Chicken Sane are decent, never stop running, pass well, but most importantly know exactly when to push, nudge, and kick you and get away with it. This isn't a criticism, they are brilliant at it, but it makes them incredibly difficult to play against front and back.

Despite that the Revs put in an excellent first half performance to keep the score to nil-nil at halftime. Olly pulled off a couple of great saves, there were some good blocks from Ty and Phil, and we even had half chances the other end. The best fell to me (Hartrick), a header with the goal gaping but the ball just wouldn't come down enough to head it downwards. Jamie Allen had a rasping half volley wide from distance, and whilst under the cosh everyone worked hard and performed excellently.

Into the second half and we couldn't hold out. If we could have kept it tight for 10 we might have got something but a lucky break off a pass that Gaz came within a pubic hair of cutting out meant their striker could finish. Undeserved at that point but 1-0, and that became 2-0 almost instantly as we gave away possession cheaply and they scored.

We rallied, Gaz scored a great goal in reply cutting inside and finishing well, but ultimately as we pushed spaces opened up and they took full advantage. Coupled to this the ref started bottling a few calls, twice calling 50/50s in Sane's favour including one on Ty that was never a foul. We conceded two more, one a silly breakaway goal that we don't count as we were rightly pushing to try and get something out the game at 3-1 down.

So another defeat but a decent performance at least and a much better feeling walking off the pitch than last week. There are easier fixtures than this ahead, keep playing like this and the points will come, RTID
