The Revs went into the game low on confidence but played with heart.
Captain Evans played bravely on one leg and when Beardall went off early in the 2nd half with a hamstring injury the omens were looking bad for the boys.
The opposition had set themselves up to counter attack and for the most part The Revs dealt with this. They had plenty of long range efforts. In fact The Revs had arguably the better chances.
Efforts from Hartrick, Tyman and L. Evans were either squandered or expertly saved by a keeper on form.
Eventually the counter attack option paid off as Beardall pulled up with an injury the opposition took advantage of the temporary extra man to break the deadlock.
From that point on The Revs went looking for the goal needed and deserved and pressure led to corner after corner but the opposition defence could not be breached.
And to add insult to injury they hit on the counter attack several times when The Revs looked to be getting into the game.
Shit out of luck... in fact if it wasn't for bad luck The Revs would have no luck at all.
Tempers flared towards the end of the game when Steane got involved (surprise) and then L. Evans had a rare red mist descend leading to a shoving match.
It's fair to say that this was the best The Revs had played for a while, especially at this new venue. And did not deserve the 4 nil score line. On another night this would be a 4 nil victory instead.
But when your luck is out then you just have to plod on!
