Listicles are all the rage these days so here's the Revs very own version - 10 Things We Learnt From Revolutions 2 Bradford Ultras 3
1. New venue, new pitches, and they play quick, really, really quick. Last night we started to look long from the off and if you let the ball bounce here it leaves the surface of the pitch at approximately a million miles-per-hour. We'll get used to it but Mystic Meg's had a butcher's and she sees us defending a lot of kick-ins and goal kicks in the next couple of weeks...
2. We played some really nice stuff at times, both goals came from working the ball up the pitch between several players rather than going long and I (Dave Hartrick) sat the keeper on his arse for the first, Gaz Beardall picked out the top corner for the other. We need to adjust to the new pitch and play in a different style but at times there was a lot of hope ahead with our interplay. Shorter pitch means less running but also less space - start of a tiki-taka-revolution for the Revolutions?
3. There's nothing wrong with Phil's face, he's faking it all.
4. We have to improve our finishing down there, the goals are tiny, levels the playing field a bit for us as Olly is as good or better than any keeper in that league which is great, but harder to score for us too. Get working on banging the ball into the wheelie bin, boys.
5. We weren't at our best and still competed in this game, in fact we were the better team for some of it, particularly in the second half. If I'd had my shooting boots on we'd have got something, plus there were chances for Matty and Gaz too, we hit the woodwork twice and had a lot of good possession. Nothing to fear going ahead as we can only get better from here.
6. No one got sent off which felt weird. Plus I saw the ref actually watching the game on more than one occasion.
7. They were a young team with quick feet and a couple of lads who knew where the back of the net was but we defended pretty well on the whole. Collectively we switched off for the 3 goals but overall everyone worked hard, everyone covered their men well and we kept our shape. They started whining which was lovely as it showed they were getting frustrated, next time we'll beat them.
8. If we'd had played the other new team down there we'd have won, seriously they had a defender who was the size of Homer Simpson from the episode where he put on all the weight and a lad who played in Converse. We shit out having to play the Ultras twice - typical Revs luck!
9. Craig was the only one there with water last night which is a poor showing, we'll be better than that we promise Ty.
10. I couldn't think of a tenth thing.
