The mood was upbeat in the Revs camp after last week's result and a full strength squad had to trim one player as everyone was up for this. Lewis sat this week out meaning Olly was back in goal and only Jamie Allen missed the game as he was too lazy to play.
With a win behind us, a Revs weekend away ahead, this game would be a breeze and not even the weather could slow us down. In that spirit we started very well, lots of possession but not many chances. We did look solid at the back and comfortable on the ball, but the big chances never really came.
15 minutes into the first half the game had settled into a pattern, they played on the break, we pushed with the ball but couldn't break them down. It felt like a big moment might be coming and as Olly kicked it long that proved to be the case. Dave H's flick on found Matty who fired it in for 1-0.
A few chances followed, Ty just missed his footing on a couple, a few long shorts were fired in but were blocked, then half time came with us feeling like there was a good chance to push on here. On top, ahead and up for this, we did of course then lose.
Two sloppy goals cost us in a second half that went exactly as the first had for the Revs - loads of possession but not enough creativity. Corners and kick-ins came and went, James went close with a header, lots of shots were blocked but those big chances never came. Used to playing on the break perhaps it was having so much of the ball that we struggled with, but the final whistle went and the Revs had lost 2-1.
So disappointment before the soon-to-be annual Revolutions weekend away, with Monday looming for a team who will all be rough as a bear's arse. Ah well.
