The headline for this game - The Revs should have won!
How they did not is a mystery... well, no it's not. The opposition got one sighter, they took their sighter and it happened to be 30 seconds from full time and so won!
A real kick in the nuts for the boys in blue.
Add to that how well The Revs played, how comfortable on the ball the entire team was and how much they dictated the entire team is a more than just a kick in the nuts...
"It's like they shagged your wife and made the bed afterwards whilst tucking into your last beer..." as one of the team so eloquently put it. Any prizes for guessing who?
There really isn't much more to say than that. The opposition had 4 chances of note - 3 went over the fence, the 4th was a goal.
Steane had one of his simplest games ever in goal, the entire team got plenty of time with the ball at their feet and chances were carved out a plenty. At one point there was a solid 5 minutes camped in the oppositions penalty area as they panicked in defence as The Revs turned up the pressure.
Yes their keeper was decent, came out quick, pulled off some great saves and pinged the ball forward with accuracy, but The Revs also squandered many a chance too.
Stick all that in one game and you always feared the worst... and that is what happened.
The Revs will play far worse, have played far worse, and still come away with the win.
This one was a smash n grab from the opposition... And it feels all the worse for it.
