Well, that was a season wasn't it. A largely rubbish one with occasional high notes. Here we were on the last day unable to finish bottom, unable to finish top, and nowhere near mid table. Time to try and finish on a high note and get ready for the next one.

With only Olly (slightly sprained ankle) and Jamie (stuck in a well) missing a full squad went into the game with nothing to lose, except two early goals maybe. Which is exactly what we did and the whole thing felt a bit flat.

But, and it's a big but (not like that, Phil) we were actually playing some nice stuff. Few one-twos going on, a lovely ball from Gaz to Dave P nearly ending in a goal, and my effort which hit both posts while the keeper watched. Matty made a couple of really good saves but we needed a break, a moment of luck, something which we've had nothing of all season but for once we were genuinely playing well enough to earn.

And it came, a sweeping counter attack ending in Dave P playing a lovely ball across to me in space and 2-0 was now 2-1. A couple of minutes later we broke again and after the keeper parried my shot straight back out Ty was following in like all good strikers do and tucked in an equaliser. A deserved one too.

Halftime came and went and we were on the front foot, another rebound off the keeper finding me a couple of yards out for a header and 3-2 to us. Straight after another counter, a great ball from Gaz and a shot on the turn from me made it 4-2 and I'll stick my neck out and say this twenty minutes (10 before halftime, 10 after) was the best we've played this season. A few more chances came and went, we put some decent passing moves together and then did what we do, which is concede a couple of sloppy goals for 4-4. Disappointing but given it meant nothing it's worth focusing on how well we played for a good chunk of the game.

So season done, finishing on a high(ish) note achieved, Ty voted Player of the Season, and we go again.
